Here in my home state, it has been absolutely frigid!! Too dangerously cold outside to do any extended light painting exercises. So for the past two weeks, I've been keeping busy and practicing with objects around the house. One of my personal exercises are water drops on cd's. When you position your camera and light source at different angles, you get some pretty interplanetary results.
In this image, I brought the camera close to the cd. Open the aperture at its widest, throw it out of focus from mid frame to background, wave Christmas lights around it to add color. Now you have "bokeh planets" and created a new solar system.
According to the weather, the frigid cold snap is coming to an end. I am expecting to go outside next week and FINALLY do outdoor light painting exercises. So check back here in my journal and my Instagram account @light.lucidity for updated light painting images.
